2001年12月18日生まれ、米国ロサンゼルス在住のシンガー・ソングライター。
2019年に発売したデビュー・アルバム『WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?/ ホエン・ウィ・オール・フォール・アスリープ、ホエア・ドゥ・ウィ・ゴー?』は英米を含め全世界18の国と地域で1位を獲得。2019年に全世界で最も売れたデビュー・アルバムとなり、米ビルボード・アルバム・チャート(Billboard 200)の年間アルバム・チャートでは史上最年少で1位に輝いた。
彼女の代表曲「bad guy」は、全米シングル・チャート(Billboard Hot 100)で1位を獲得し、2000年以降に生まれたアーティストとして史上初の偉業を達成。
2021年４月には、ここ日本でも、日本レコード協会のストリーミング認定開始以降、洋楽女性アーティスト初、さらに洋楽史上最速でのプラチナ認定(1億回再生)となった。

2023年映画『バービー』のために書き下ろした楽曲「What Was I Made For?/ホワット・ワズ・アイ・メイド・フォー?」は、第81回ゴールデングローブ賞「最優秀オリジナル楽曲賞（映画部門）」、第66回グラミー賞「年間最優秀楽曲」、第96回アカデミー賞「歌曲賞」を受賞。
2024年5月待望の3rdアルバム『HIT ME HARD AND SOFT/ヒット・ミー・ハード・アンド・ソフト』をリリースし、アルバムを引っさげて初のプロモーション来日を行った。
2024年のApple Musicアーティスト・オブ・ザ・イヤーを受賞し、「BIRDS OF A FEATHER」は2024年Spotifyで最も聴かれた楽曲となった。
同アルバムは第67回グラミー賞にて主要3部門全5部門にノミネートされ、アーティストとしては７部門にノミネートされた。
